Kaoru Iwamura – fortepiano
Kaoru Iwamura is een specialist in de fortepiano en een echte liefhebber van dit authentieke instrument. Naast haar reguliere concerten ontplooit ze initiatieven om de fortepiano bekender te maken bij een breder publiek. Zo is ze onlangs een eigen initiatief gestart om ook kinderen op een ludieke manier kennis te laten maken met de fortepiano. In een serie concerten en verhalen gaat ze met haar Mozart-piano door het land om haar liefde voor de fortepiano te delen met kinderen (en hun ouders), gesteund door het Amsterdams fonds voor de kunst. Komend seizoen speelt ze concerten met hedendaagse composities voor fortepiano, een samenwerking met studenten compositie van Het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag.
Kaoru Iwamura is de winnares van de Muzio Clementi Award. Zij ontving de prijs in het Engelse Finchcocks Musical Museum als een specialiste op het gebied van het vroege toetsinstrument voor haar subtiele uitvoering op tien verschillende toetsinstrumenten (gebouwd tussen 1668 en 1866).
Ze studeerde piano aan de Musashino Academy of Music. Tijdens haar studie ontwikkelde zij een grote interesse voor de historische uitvoeringspraktijk, in het bijzonder die van de fortepiano. Haar passie voor de fortepiano bracht haar naar Nederland waar ze zich verder specialiseerde in de fortepiano aan de conservatoria van Den Haag en Amsterdam.
Kaoru is regelmatig te horen in solorecitals en in ensembles in binnen- en buitenland (onder meer in Engeland, Oostenrijk, Finland, Duitsland en Japan). Zij was te horen tijdens de radio live uitzending van AVRO radio 4 in de Spiegelzaal van het Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Kaoru Iwamura is a performer on early keyboard instruments. She won the Muzio Clementi Award, presented to her in the British Finchcocks Musical Museum for her subtle performances on keyboard instruments from 1668 to 1866. Kaoru was born in Tokyo, Japan, where she studied piano at the Musashino Academy of Music. Her passion for the fortepiano took her to the Netherlands where she further pursued her interest in historical performance practice at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. Kaoru has given recitals in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Austria, Germany and Japan, and was featured in a live broadcast in the Dutch AVRO radio4 network. In 2013 she was invited to give a solo recital and masterclass in the ‘Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival’ in Kuopo, Finland, with a scholarship from the Asahi Shimbun Foundation. As a member of the board of the Sweelinck Collection she is committed to the promotion and preservation of a unique collection of fortepianos in Amsterdam.
