Dario Macaluso werd in 1968 geboren op Sicilië. Hij studeerde gitaar aan het conservatorium in Palermo en aan het Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam waar hij met de hoogste kwalificaties afstudeerde. Hij volgde lessen bij Gustav Leonhardt en Walter van Hauwe.

Dario heeft optredens in vele Europese landen en in Japan gaf hij diverse recitals, zowel als solist als in ensembles. Met Kaoru Iwamura speelt hij regelmatig in binnen en buitenland, zoals dit jaar tijdens concertseries in Italië en Nederland.

Hij geeft masterclasses, doet musicologisch onderzoek, publiceert en is directeur van verschillende concertseries. Verschillende Europese componisten schreven werk voor hem. Dario Macaluso heeft drie cd’s uitgebracht. Op zijn laatste cd “From Italy” speelt hij 19e eeuwse duetten, samen met de Nederlandse fluitiste Eleonore Pameijer.

Dario Macaluso was born in 1968 in Sicily, Italy. After studying guitar at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in Palermo, and subsequently obtaining a degree in classic languages and history, he continued his guitar studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where he graduated with cum laude. Dario took classes among others with David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Roberto Aussell and he has won several prizes in guitar competitions. He performs regularly in Europe and Japan, both as a soloist and in ensembles. Dario also gives masterclasses and is director of several concert series in Italy. The scope of his repertoire is broad and varied. A number of composers have dedicated compositions to him, and several of these contemporary pieces are included in his solo CD Le Corde di Sicilo. He has also recorded duets for guitars by Filippo Gragnani with guitarist Paolo Romano. On his last CD, entitled From Italy, he performs nineteenth-century duets for flute and guitar with flautist Eleonore Pameijer. He teaches guitar at the Ribera Conservatory in Sicily.
