Miranda Driessen
Miranda Driessen (The Netherlands, 1969) was raised in a family where music was only played on the radio. Fortunately one of her teachers at primary school gave recorder-lessons after school and it immediately stole her heart. Another early influence was the Gregorian chants in church on Sundays and the music of the wind orchestras that were common in the area where she grew up which she joined as a teenager. At the age of 16 she became conductor of a youth wind orchestra. In the same period she played in several folkbands.
She studied flute, conducting, jazz-singing and music education at Maastricht Conservatory where she graduated in 1994.
While working as a music teacher at several schools she continued studying classical singing with Charles van Tassel in Amsterdam and from 2004 until 2009 she studied composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Klaas de Vries, Peter Jan Wagemans and René Uijlenhoet in 2004.
Her work has been played by renowned dutch ensembles such as the ASKO ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, the Doelenensemble and Orkest De Ereprijs.
