Forgotten Masters, Early-Romantic English & French Composers, by Polish Chamber Musicians

19 juli 2015 | 16.45 uur | Museum Geelvinck,

Forgotten masters. Chamber music of less known early romantic English and French composers.

The program is considered to revive pieces of three composers living and working at the beginning of the 19th century: English flute virtuos Charles Nicholson, Alexandre Pierre François Böely and George Onslow, called a “french Beethoven”. All of them, though successful during their lifetime, are today quite unknown. The aim of the project is to show the freshness of ideas, originality, charm and dramatism hidden in their pieces. The program shows also a spectrum of styles, from a light salon-music considered to amuse the public with a “pot pourri” of well known melodies and virtuosic tricks to a most serious, moving kind of music.
