Certificate
All candidates, who participate in the competition, afterwards receive an official certificate stating their participation.
Stanley Hoogland Square Piano Award
This award is named after the doyen of the historic fortepiano at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Stanley Hoogland. The jury can chose to honour with this award the best performance on square piano, when the quality level of the performance is in accordance with the award’s requirements. Participating in this competition is optional. However, all candidates of the fortepiano competition (also when you did not make it to the second or final round) are encouraged to take part in this competition for the Square Piano Award too.
Romain d’Ansembourg Encouragement Award
In addition to the main award, the festival organization intends to issue the Romain d’Ansembourg Encouragement Award (‘Stimuleringsprijs’) to stimulate aspiring young talent for performing on historic pianos. The award is named after the late Romain count de Marchant et d’Ansembourg, who during his lifetime has encouraged many aspiring young professional fortepianists and in general supported performances on historic fortepianos. His house with historic pianos was always open for fortepianists. In his memory, a historic Erard fortepiano (1896) from his collection is now part of the Geelvinck Collection. The awarding of the Romain d’Ansembourg Encouragement Award is decided by the widow of Romain count de Marchant et d’Ansembourg, Mrs. Dominique Theumen (Romain d’Ansembourg Foundation), together with Willem Brons in consultation with the Jury.
Geelvinck Audience Award
The Geelvinck Audience Award (“Publieksprijs”) maybe awarded to the candidate, who, in view of the audience and the leadership of Geelvinck Music Museums (independently of the jury), is the generally most appreciated fortepianist of this competition.
