Fortepianist Tae-Young Kim is goodwill ambassador of a Korean initiative, the ‘One Month Festival’, held worldwide and which she advocates to organise in The Netherlands as well. This year with fortepianist Kaoru Iwamura and Ensemble SOUNDS.

‘One Month Festival’
‘One Month Festival’ is initiated in Korea by ‘The House Concert’ organization, the oldest and leading Korean house concert organization. ‘The House Concert’ organises annually special events, usually in July, on various performance locations. Last year 2015, they went worldwide with ‘One Month Festival’, including house concerts, salon concerts, museum concerts, school concerts, church performances and so on. Any podium can join as one of the festival venues.
The intention is to have performance at venues without restriction, with close distance between musicians and the listeners, like the Geelvinck Salon.

The initiators of ‘One Month Festival’ are convinced that music is an international language, and music can unite the world in friendship and peace. Any place and anyone can join in ‘One Month Festival’, as a performer and as audience, if they share the same conviction.

Last year, 2015, was the starting point for ‘The House Concert’ to expand the festival as a global event. Holding the official motto ‘Arts Alive’, ‘One Month Festival’ this year is held in 26 countries, 130 cities. with total 323 performances, of which 3 in The Netherlands during July 2016.

ENSEMBLE SOUNDS’: strijkers met fortepiano

SOUNDS met repertoire uit de 18e en 19e eeuw speelt op instrumenten uit die tijd. De musici kijken veelvuldig over de grenzen van die eeuwen heen en slaan zo een brug naar repertoire van vandaag. SOUNDS wordt gevormd door Kaoru Iwamura (fortepiano), Barbara Erdner (viool) en Nina Hitz (cello), Esther van der Eijk (altviool) en Maria Vahervuo (contrabas).
