De Taiwanese pianiste Hua Hsuan speelt composities van Schumann, Schubert en Debussy.
Introduction by Hua Hsuan:
These pieces are actually very famous and are used everywhere in film and tv. People listen to this music with the “modern taste” with modern piano sounds. But I would like to try some different possibility on historic pianos.
Especially Suite Bergamasque, 4 pieces are exotic and magical , Debussy wrote in many different styles which I like it very much.
Schumann was just 21 when he wrote Papillon after reading a novel “Flegeljahre” by Jean Paul, and he also used many interesting sound ideas in this piece.
The Impromptus op.90 was composed one year before Schubert died. He was very sick and also realized he would die very soon, so I think this music is more like question: What is life? And this is a universal question. I hope we all could find the answer and be healed through the music.
I am looking forward to play these beautiful pieces on fantastic historic pianos in the museum. Let the music bring people together and lets remember past generations!
