American cellist Douw Fonda studied modern cello at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, followed by baroque cello with Jaap ter Linden at the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag. He is an in-demand chamber musician and member of the Vespucci String Quartet and Benjamin Franklin Trio. He plays co-principal in Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.
