Luther Museum in de Wittenberg
De Geelvinck Salon heeft een nieuw onderdak gevonden in het gebouw, waar sinds juni  2019 het Luther Museum in is gevestigd, ook bekend als de Wittenberg. Deze naam is een verwijzing naar de stad waar Luther eens zijn stellingen bekend maakte. Het gebouw, dat dateert uit 1772, bevindt zich in de Plantagebuurt, tussen Weesperstraat en Roetersstraat, op de hoek, waar Nieuwe Kerkstraat en Nieuwe Keizersgracht samenkomen. Het adres van het Luther Museum en de kerkzaal is Nieuwe Keizersgracht 570.

The Geelvinck Salon has found a new home in the building, which since June 2019, houses the Luther Museum, also known as the Wittenberg. This name is a reference to the city where Luther once made his theses known. The building, which dates from 1772, is located in the Plantagebuurt between Weesperstraat and Roetersstraat on the corner where Nieuwe Kerkstraat and Nieuwe Keizersgracht meet. The address of the Luther Museum and the church hall is Nieuwe Keizersgracht 570.

Muziek in Musea: de Geelvinck Salon in het Luther Museum
In de fraaie kerkzaal, met een prachtige lichtinval dankzij ramen aan weerszijden, staat straks een geheel gerestaureerd orgel. Hier zal ook de Streicher vleugel komen te staan en kan de Geelvinck Salon haar serie kamermuziek op de zondagnamiddag voortzetten onder het motto ‘Muziek in Musea: de Geelvinck Salon in het Luther Museum.’
Het Luther Museum, dat naast de  fraaie Regentenkamer, ook de kerkzaal in gebruik zal nemen, herbergt de collectie kostbaarheden van de Lutherse Gemeente, zoals de Doop van de Kamerling door Ruysdael.

Herbestemming van de Wittenberg
De Lutherse Gemeente bestaat al sinds 1588 in Amsterdam en heeft zich altijd de zorg voor vreemdelingen, wezen, ouderen, zieken en armen aangetrokken. Na verhuizing van de zorginstelling naar andere delen van Amsterdam en een ingrijpende verbouwing heeft de Wittenberg een nieuwe bestemming gekregen: short stay en museum. De opbrengsten van de short stay zijn bestemd voor de werken van de Diaconie, de zorg voor armen, ouderen, vluchtelingen zonder papieren en leden van de LHBTQI

Music in Museums: the Geelvinck Salon in the Luther Museum

In the beautiful church hall, filled with streaming natural light thanks to windows on both sides, will soon sit a completely restored organ. The Streicher grand piano will also be located here and the Geelvinck Salon can continue its series of chamber music on Sunday afternoons under the motto “Music in Musea: the Geelvinck Salon in the Luther Museum.”

The Luther Museum, which will also occupy the church hall in addition to the beautiful Regentenkamer, houses the collection of valuables of the Lutheran Congregation, such as the Baptism of the Kamerling by Ruysdael.

Redevelopment of the Wittenberg

The Lutheran Congregation has existed in Amsterdam since 1588 and has always cared for foreigners, orphans, the elderly, the sick and the poor. After the relocation of the care institution to other parts of Amsterdam and a radical renovation, the Wittenberg has been given a new destination: short stay and museum. The proceeds from the short stay are intended for the works of the Diaconie, the care for the poor, the elderly, undocumented refugees and members of the LGBTQI
