Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival in Gelderland

Tullia Melandri has the honour of providing the opening concert of the Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival in Gelderland with her Trio at our 10th Festival edition. She has been playing successfully in our Festivals for years. Archduke Rudolph was initially a piano student of Beethoven, then the two became friends. Fortepianist Tullia Melandri brings this friendship in music to life with cellist Evan Buttar and Alejandro Fariña Martín on clarinet. From1803 Rudolf took piano lessons and composition lessons from Ludwig van Beethoven. The two became good friends, Rudolf became Ludwig van Beethoven’s patron and he became a great support to Beethoven. They continued to meet until 1824. Ludwig van Beethoven dedicated 14 compositions to Rudolf, including the Fourth and Fifth Piano Concerto, the Piano Sonata Les Adieux, the Hammerklavier Sonata and the Grosse Fuge. Rudolf, in his turn, dedicated one of his own compositions to Beethoven. The letters Beethoven wrote to Rudolf have been preserved in the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna to this day. Ferdinand Ries and Franz Schubert also dedicated works to Rudolph. Enjoy listening and watching this special friendship and combination of composers!

Locatie

Huize Kolthoorn
