Van Salon naar Salon

De Early Piano Stroll is een jaarlijks terugkerend onderdeel van het Geelvinck Festival. Tijdens dit wandelconcert wandelt u onder begeleiding van een gids van het ene naar het andere concert. Drie concerten met historische instrumenten in twee historische locaties. Het thema is dit jaar ‘Van Salon naar Salon’.

Drie Concerten

Twee concerten zijn met een duo (cello, respectievelijk hobo) en één concert met solist. Alle vijf gespecialiseerde topmusici!
En u krijgt de hele breedte van historische piano’s te horen:
– het Meerbach clavichord uit c. 1800 (zeldzaam)
– een zeer vroege tafelpiano: Zumpe uit 1769 (zeldzaam)
– een Collard & Collard tafelpiano uit c. 1835-1845
– een Heilmann fortepiano uit c. 1780-1790 (zeldzaam)
Deze instrumenten hoort u vrijwel nooit: bij de meeste musea staan deze achter een koord en worden niet meer bespeeld.

Tijdens het wandelconcert krijgt u uitleg over de bespeelde (vroege) piano’s. Ook hoort u tijdens de stadswandeling over de geschiedenis van de stad. Bovendien krijgt u een rondleiding door het museum met uitleg over de lopende tentoonstelling ‘Chinoiserie – Droomwereld of opmaat tot Revolutie?!’

Deze Early Piano Stroll mag u niet missen: muziek van Bach, Beethoven en tijdgenoten, zoals het in hun tijd klonk. Dit is echt ‘sound heritage’! Puur en authentiek: laat u verrassen!

Tijdschema:

Ochtendronde: 10.30 uur deur open en 11 uur aanvang concert

Luncharrangement 

De keuken van de Marspoort Galerie bereidt een gezellige en smakelijke lunch voor, bestaande uit een soepje met broodjes en wat salade, voor inclusief koffie/thee/fris: 17,50 euro (hiernaast te bestellen). Wijn of bier kunt u apart afrekenen.
Wandelt u in de ochtend, dan bent u, na uw laatste concert, vanaf 14 uur welkom voor de lunch in de Marspoort Galerie tot
Wandelt u in de middag, dan luncht u vooraf, vanaf 12.45 uur tot 14 uur.

About this program

Composed around 1794 and published in a set of three by Erard in 1817, Widerkehr’s duos are rare examples of true duo sonatas for oboe and piano of the Classical period. By this time, the traditional keyboard sonata accompagnata by a melodic instrument was being replaced by the duo sonata where both instruments played an equal role. Classical sonatas were performed in aristocratic salons, a venue which increased in popularity especially in France and Austria during the second half of the eighteenth century. At the beginning of the Romantic era, sonatas became concert pieces which paralleled the rise of the instrumental virtuoso. Reicha, best known for his twenty-five wind quintets composed in Paris between 1811 and 1820, wrote the Air in C major around 1818. It was written for either soprano or oboe with piano, attesting to the cantabile expressive possibilities of the oboe. Features of the classical oboe include a narrower bore, thinner walls, and smaller tone holes than the baroque oboe, giving a more focused sound.

About this program:

The interpretation of these two works, written early in Beethoven’s career, is inspired by the extensive research in performance practice of his time and takes into account recent studies of traditions of keyboard and string playing in the generations immediately after Beethoven as preserved in annotated editions, letters, books, reminiscences, and in some cases even early recordings. The listener is encouraged to pay attention to such aspects of the playing as tempo (often fast), tempo flexibility, portamento (sliding from one note to another on a string instrument), expressive togetherness of the pianist’s hands and between the players, sparing use of vibrato, freedom of rhythm and a generally expressive and emotionally affected tone of performance.
